Shalfleet Church Friendship Group

We are what it says on the tin – a group in Shalfleet who meet to build and share friendship. We are sponsored by the church but open to all.

We meet in Shalfleet Hall on the first Tuesday of the month (not August; we usually go out for a meal together on two of the other Tuesdays, and meet in the vicarage in January and February). At our “normal” monthly meetings we most often have a speaker and then a cup of tea and chat. Recent speakers’ subjects have included: ethical investment; a trip to Indonesia; health trainers; the World of Samuel Pepys; Life with a Guide-Dog; Working in Osborne House; Life as a London Cabbie.

Part of our focus is to fund-raise for Shalfleet church and for other charities. We usually hold six-monthly coffee mornings for this purpose (our pre-Christmas one will be on 28 November 2009, 10.30-12) We also join in with “Tea at Three” in June in support of the Hospice. We have a particular link with the Island-based charity “Love Russia”; Alex Cooke, their director, will be our speaker on 6 th April 2010.

We always welcome new members of either gender and any age! For more information please contact Barbara Smith (531995) or Gwen Bevington (531238; e-mail ).
